EPCOT, an acronym for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, is a theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. It opened on October 1, 1982, as EPCOT Center, and was the second theme park built at Walt Disney World. EPCOT is dedicated to the celebration of human achievement, particularly in the areas of science, technology, and international culture.
The park is divided into four main areas, or “neighborhoods”: World Showcase, Future World, World Nature, and World Discovery. World Showcase is a collection of 11 pavilions that represent different countries from around the world. Future World is home to attractions that focus on science, technology, and innovation. World Nature is a conservation-themed area that includes the Living Seas pavilion and The Land pavilion. World Discovery is a recently added area that includes the Test Track attraction and the Mission: SPACE attraction.
